Doubts remain over AFCON 2015 as Morocco stands firm

Doubts remain over the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations after Morocco failed to confirm its intention to host the tournament next year.

Last month, the Moroccan government called for the continental showpiece scheduled for January 17 to February 8 to be called off because of the deadly Ebola virus that has broken out in Africa.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) subsequently rejected that request after meeting to discuss the issue further.

The CAF also set Morocco a deadline of November 8 to clarify its final position, with the country s Ministry of Sport responding on Saturday by releasing a statement in which it reiterated its stance.

The statement urged a postponement of the tournament due to health reasons dictated by the highest dangerousness and …

Dethroned champions look to leave Euro 2008 on a high

Reigning European champions Greece will be aiming to bow out of Euro 2008 on Wednesday by salvaging some pride against Group D winners Spain.

Greece s dreams of repeating their improbable run to the title in Portugal four years ago were quickly blown away this time around as Otto Rehhagel s defensive tactics failed to produce the same results.

The Greeks lost 2-0 to Sweden before a 1-0 reverse against Russia eliminated them from the competition.

Their form has been poor in those two games but their chances of snatching a consolation victory against the Spaniards are actually quite high.

Just as Switzerland took advantage of a weakened and already qualified Portugal on Sunday to earn their first win of the tournament, Greece will be hoping to do likew…

De la Fuente: Euro 2024 glory confirms Spain are ´best in the world´

Luis de la Fuente believes Spain have confirmed their status as the best in the world , following their 2-1 victory over England in the Euro 2024 final.

Mikel Oyarzabal was La Roja s hero as he struck the winner four minutes from time at the Olympiastadion, where Cole Palmer cancelled out Nico Williams second-half opener.

Spain subsequently became the first team in European Championship history to lift the Henri Delaunay cup on four occasions, having won all seven of their matches in Germany.

Indeed, since the 2002 Champions League final, Spanish teams and the Spanish national team have now won all 23 major finals against non-Spanish teams.

Wales´ Euro 2016 hero Robson-Kanu retires from international football

Wales forward Hal Robson-Kanu has announced his retirement from international football.

The 29-year-old won 44 caps for his country but will be best remembered for his stunning goal against Belgium to help Wales into the Euro 2016 semi-finals.

Robson-Kanu pulled off a Cruyff turn in the box to deceive three Belgian defenders and slot an effort beyond goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, scoring Wales second in a famous 3-1 victory in Lille.

I am grateful to have lived a dream in representing my nation at international level, said Robson-Kanu, who said he would now focus on his family and his club football with West Brom.

It has been an honour to pull on a shirt supported by true pride and unrivalled passion.

First to cause chaos.

On this day in 2010: John Toshack quits as Wales manager

John Toshack quit as Wales manager on this day in 2010.

The former Real Madrid boss had been in charge of the national team for six years but resigned following talks with the Welsh FA.

A 1-0 defeat in Montenegro was his final match as Wales opened their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign in disappointing style.

He had hoped to continue for games against Switzerland and Bulgaria but the loss to Montenegro saw him leave immediately.

“I thought after three matches of this group we would review everything,” Toshack said at the time.

“Even after the disappointment of the game in Montenegro that was still the way I felt. But we have come to the agreement that this might be better for everyone concerned.”

He oversaw three disappointing qualif…

Cardinals vs Seahawks Week 11 Picks and Predictions: Wounded Birds Battle at Lumen

The Arizona Cardinals would prefer not to enter their Week 12 bye having lost three of four after starting the season 7-0 SU. Standing in their way are the Seattle Seahawks, who did not impress with Russell Wilson back at under center last week in a 17-0 loss to the Packers. Kyler Murray is trending in the right direction after missing the last two games, and while Arizona is a 2-point road favorite, that number is very dependent on Murray’s health.

Can the Cardinals shake off the rust and stay on top of the NFC West? Can Wilson and the offense get their mojo back? Find out in our picks and predictions for Cardinals vs. Seahawks on Sunday, November 21.

Best Spot Bets for NFL Week 3: Sky-High Jets Come Crashing Down vs Desperate Bengals

After two wild weeks of NFL betting action, we need all the info we can to wrangle the Week 3 odds.

Given the limited results, it’s tough to trust the early metrics and really get an idea of just what teams are made out of. That means looking beyond the box scores and injury reports for edges and sizing up things like how the schedule could influence outcomes.

Situational handicapping – also known as spot bets – is a great complement to your analytical information, especially at this point in the year. I dig into my top spots for NFL Week 3, giving you my favorite look-ahead, let-down and schedule angles.

Ravens vs Bengals Odds, Picks, and Predictions Week 2: Defenses Dominate AFC North Showdown

The trainer’s room is once again the most heavily trafficked area for the Baltimore Ravens, who may have won their opening game of the 2023 NFL season but were also dealt some devastating losses.

Baltimore, which has been snake-bitten with injury issues the past three seasons, limps into a Week 2 divisional showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday.

The Bengals were among the biggest busts of Week 1, managing only three points on 142 total yards of offense in an embarrassing 24-3 defeat to rival Cleveland. Cincinnati opened as low as a field goal favorite according to Week 2 odds, and Baltimore’s injury concerns have tacked a half-point onto this spread.

I dive into the NFL odds for this AFC North grudge match and give my best NFL pic…

Week 12 NFL Trend Report: How Low Can They Go?

Like that scrappy team that just won’t go away, Unders made another big statement once again in Week 11, going 10-4 which now has them cashing at a 60.7% clip on the season. While I keep expecting some sort of regression for these NFL betting trends — as I mention in this article week after week — they just keep coming back stronger, but is the tide finally set to turn in Week 12?

This week’s NFL odds feature some rock-bottom totals including Patriots vs. Giants at 33.5, Steelers vs. Bengals at 34, Browns vs. Broncos at 35, and Panthers vs. Titans at 36.5.

Low totals are still going Under though, so don’t be scared off if your numbers support backing the Under in these games. Over the last three weeks, 14 games have had a total lo…
